Winter storm + Colored rice = BLAST!

Colored Rice:
-1 1/2 cups white rice
-Tblsp vinegar
- few drops of food coloring

Add ingredients into a bowl - have the kids shake away!
Spread it out on a cookie sheet (I used wax paper on top) and
then bake at 175 degrees for 10 minutes!
(Thanks Trista for the idea!)

Shake, shake, shake..

Some of our colors! (Each color was about a bag of rice!)

Ta-da! (About 5 bags worth here!)

They found some objects to play with!
-Spoons, cups, cows, horses, tractors, wagons, etc!

Honestly - they played with this stuff ALL MORNING!
I will admit no one even attempted eating it!
And also my floor is a DISASTER .. but
well worth it!

The 3 girls I had today .. lined up chairs and watched Greg snow-blow!
The school age kids got out early (10 am) so they joined in on our rice fun too!
(The lighting in the pic was bad..)

To cute!

Happy Spring!

April showers (snow storms!) .. Bring May flowers!

While the snow kept us inside.. it didn't slow us down..
"ARRRR Matey's!" -- We were pirates!

We have really enjoyed these 2 kiddos while a fellow
daycare provider was on maternity leave!

Girl time!! :)

"April showers ... Bring May flowers!"

We can pretend it's Spring, right? :)

Easter at Caty's Care!

We made these cute lil bunny magnet picture frames!
(Got super busy and didn't snap pictures!)

We also painted Easter eggs!

Boys busy at it!
The older kids put together the Easter story sticker scene with Jesus and the tomb. We
also decorated Easter buckets and filled them with candy! I
ordered our Easter crafts off of www.orientaltrading.com. Great site!

Hope you had a great Easter!

.. Feb & March ..

Our Valentine's Day treats!
The girls enjoying some color time!

All smiles.. waiting to hand out our treats!
Happy Valentine's from Caty's care!

Most of our days include painting..

or working on our letters!

We did many rainbow projects for St.Patty's day!

Reading day!

The kids each picked out a book, gave us a lil bit of the story (most made up their own),
and we enjoyed!

More crafts!

"Love is in the Air"

One of our SMILEY Valentines!
On one of the COLDEST days EVER last week ... we enjoyed popsicles!

Our first Valentine Project

Need: Paper plate, scissors, paint, paint brush
(I did the cutting!)
But they had fun painting!
We ARE silly here!
(Didn't get a picture of the finished product.. but you can see!)

Another cute Valentine!

I'm standing along stuff now!!

We also painted some Valentine pictures..

Did I ever mention they LOVE to paint?!

Need: Scissors, red/pink crayons, wax paper, piece of paper, iron

I shaved the crayons with a scissors, and the kids sprinkled the
crayon on some wax paper. Make sure you put a piece of
paper under the wax paper. I folded the wax paper
in half - and make sure you put another piece of paper
underneath the iron. (The crayon leaves an oil/waxy residue!)
Iron for about 20-30 seconds to melt the crayon!

(Paper shown here! This is key!)

Done ironing ..

More sprinkles ..

Then I cut into hearts! Don't they look great?

The kids really liked this one!

More craziness at Caty's Care! :)

Hiii!!

"Ahhh!!!"

Another painting project! (Super easy one!)

Need: Red paint, hands, paper, marker

We dunked our hands in paint ..

And TA-DA! Our Valentine hand hearts for our parents!

Another easy one!

Need: Toilet paper roll, red paint, paper
Bend the toilet paper roll into a heart shape..
And let the kids go!!

Busy at it!

With temps in the 40's..

They got bundled up and headed out!

Goodbye for now!

Happy Valentine's Day!!
